PODCAST BEING REVISED
Here are 5 ways to make the most of your day, no matter how busy you are. It’s your job to capitalize on each moment to be happy. Napolean Hill breaks down the day like this: We have 24 hours in a day: 8 hours for sleep, 8 hours for work, 8 hours for free time. When I refer to the moments throughout “your day”, I mean the 16 hours or so that you’re awake.
Here’s the thing: we all lead busy lives and it gets in the way of how we want to be living sometimes. We create busy-ness. And people are all conditioned to say they have “no time”. It’s just a common excuse that people use to get out of things they don’t feel like doing. But in that social conditioning, the subconscious mind will offer up exactly what you’re saying to yourself constantly – you have no time. So let’s dive-in to the art of making the most of your day.
#1: Be Aligned With Your Desires
What do you want the most in life? Since I’m a big fan of Napoleon Hill, I decided to pull his list of powerful emotions from the book Think & Grow Rich. If you look at this list of Powerful/Negative Emotions, you’ll be able to decide fairly quickly where you want to be. And the best way to align yourself with those powerful emotions is to have the desire for them. Feel free to download this list here, and put it on your cork board.
#2. Create a List of The Emotions You Experience Daily
Launching off from that list of positive and negative emotions above, take stock of which ones you predominantly experience on a daily basis. In order to make the most of your day you should know why it’s not going so well to begin with. Right? Are you so frustrated with traffic that you come home pissed-off as a direct result?
What happens when you lose sight of the power of your mind to help you shift into higher vibration emotions instead?
Could you view traffic as being a part of your day that is now your time?
So create that list! Once you’ve done that, spend a bit of time in reflection on how they manifest throughout the day. To take that one step further, make a decision to spend more time in the positive emotions. When you feel more in control of how you use your time, and how you manage your emotional system, you’re instantly making the most of your day. No one else is in control of how you feel anymore – it’s all you.
#3. Build Awareness Of The Negative Emotions You Experience
In order to make the most of your day, without getting caught-up in other people’s drama, build some awareness around when you face negativity. This 3rd point extends from point #2. When you can point-out when you’re feeling lonely or intimidated, or frustrated and resentful, you are putting yourself in a position of power to change your emotional system – and choose a better way of feeling.
I’ll be the first to admit that feeling bad and sad offers a sense of comfort to some. I faced fear head-on back in 2004, when I was in a severe car crash. It forced me to look at how I was feeling, and the ways in which I was showing-up in my life, and in the pain and suffering. There was no shortage of pain, surgeries, or medications to numb that pain. But I also learned there was no shortage of awareness around my choices. Ultimately, I was in control of how I was going to make the most of my day – during this rehab process.
#4. Hire a Wellness Coach
Health and Wellness Coaches are great at helping you pivot. So if you’re struggling with making the most of your day right now, and you really don’t feel like you have any control, I encourage you to call our office and set up a call. In coach training, I learned all about “Safe Problems”. You see, “Safe Problems” are a way for people to stay connected with the past because the past is easy. The past is effortless – even if you feel your day is a lot of work.
But the past just stays in the past, and it prevents you from moving forward. And the past prevents you from being proactive with self-regulation. So hire a good coach who will help you connect with these powerful emotions, and provide you a powerful sounding board to creating a better life. A coach can help you to connect with what you want to feel, instead of how you are feeling now. Furthermore, you get to explore the challenges you might be faced with and we can help you reframe that, and connect with your motivation and inner-strength.
#5 – Train Your Brain The Night Before
I learned this trick from Esther Hicks who says that the way you fall asleep is how you’ll feel when you wake-up. So if you argue with a loved one before you go to bed, chances are you’ll recall that argument when you wake-up. I’ve not been too closely tied to that statement, because I believe that sometimes you just need to “sleep on it” to resolve something…. but…. I do know that there’s no lack of need when it comes to training your brain.
Because the subconscious mind is more powerful than your conscious mind, you need to create regular prompts to effectively train your brain. A great trick is to get out your sticky notes and write a few positive emotions you want to feel when you wake-up. You can also put a journal at your bedside and if you have a habit of reading first thing, just open it to a page you intend to read first thing. Training your brain before bed, and in the early waking state, presents a whole host of positive responses to help you make the most of your day.
Conclusion:
As I said earlier, our productivity wanes during periods of time where we think our time is NOT our own. The fact is, we all have the same 24 hours. It’s just up to you to decide how you choose to express your own needs and joys. Do you want to feel lack and fatigue, or gratitude and energized? I hope my 5 tips helped you gain some insight on how to make the most of your day. It is YOUR job to find the right strategies necessary to create the life you desire most.
….but in order to make the most of your day you should acknowledge that the day belongs to YOU. On the other hand… it can be equally challenging when you’re stuck in a situation where you’re lacking sleep, working shifts, working too many hours in a short period of time and then… pouring your heart out to others without filling yourself back up again. Sometimes, filling ourselves up involves making some adjustments in how you view your time, as well as create a plan to live more intentionally.
Meditation is one such habit that can help you make the most of your day!
If this is you, I highly encourage you to download my free e-book on Powerful Affirmations For Health Practitioners. Affirmations are proven to help you shift your subconscious mind, and programming, by repeating affirmations on a daily basis.
