Episode 78 – Lynn’s Inspiration To Take Hospitals To The Next Level

Are you inspired to become a better leader?

Are you inspired to become a better leader? In this post, I discuss the journey and inspiration to taking hospitals to the next level, with the hopes that I can help you become a better leader and create winning teams. From my early years as a synchro swimmer and coach, and eventually becoming an RN, I’ve been inspired by how people manage their thinking processes. After completing my Master of Arts Degree in Social Justice in Education, I decided to begin the journey to motherhood. Once integrated in parenthood, and we moved ourselves out to beautiful Vancouver Island, I got the sudden inspiration to study Breakthrough Coaching through Tony Robbins’ program. The ProMind Experience eventually grew out of my own personal experiences with my 1-1 coaching clients, and believe this will truly become the next generation wellness and retention strategy that all hospitals will come to know and adopt, as we move into 2025 (and beyond).

The Inspiration To Become A Coach

There are times in our lives when we work tirelessly to reach goals, but then find ourselves not as far along as we’d like to be. We can even doubt or question if we’re on the right path and what to do next. It’s common to want to get to our manifested goals faster, and sometimes we focus tirelessly and let nothing stand in the way of that goal. At other times, we don’t know what we’re doing wrong and keep bumping up against the same blocks. But in the end, you’re never doing anything ‘wrong’, it’s just a matter of learning the next lesson and you keep moving forward.

If you’ve ever experienced this as an athlete, you would simply ask your coach to direct you, so you get better clarity and focus. I recall being only 11 years old, as a synchronized swimmer and said to my coach “I can’t”…and she told me right away “never say you can’t”. And that was probably the life-changing moment that started this journey. And then I learned to ask my coach what I needed to do to improve, instead of telling myself I couldn’t do something. That felt so much easier than suffering, and she’d gladly redirect me to find a better way. I know all too well the struggles that we all face day-to-day to succeed at something important.

From One-on-One Coaching To Course Creator

My journey into coaching evolved organically. Looking back at some of the challenges I was having as a nurse, I could see how a self-paced coaching/personal development/mindfulness/stress-management program could have been so helpful, and useful back then. I worked so much as a nurse. I was non-stop! I learned to meditate when I graduated from my BScN in 1999, and each day I’d get in 2 twenty-minute meditations. That was a wonderful reset. But I worked so much, as a new grad, and I didn’t like going slowly either. That’s likely why the universe slowed me down, and I faced a major highway car crash. The truth is, I was going too fast. Metaphorically speaking, I did not want to put the breaks on. I know that I wasn’t unique to that experiences. Many of my colleagues did the same. We worked different casual positions, and fit in more and more shifts to accommodate a burdened health care system.

Sadly, I was seeing the same problems being repeated in my coaching practice, with my 1-1 clients. My clients would get overzealous and book appointments that they couldn’t keep – due to shift work. I started to work with a unique set of strategies that I eventually coined into a 5-step system. These performance enhancing strategies that I adapted in my coaching practice with Satori Health included tactics that helped me and many of my clients over the years. This system helps you find greater balance and be more effective during long and strenuous work days. In 2019, we created a digital coaching product called ProMind and with 2 beta tests, evaluating different data markers, we eventually launched it as an experience product, The ProMind Experience.

From Course Creator to Visionary

The Pro-Mind Experience is a system that would train your teams to be peak performers, and helps one to see beyond their blindspots. It also helps you discover your needs in a deeper way, which helps you become a better leader for yourself, your family, your community, and your workplace. The ProMind Experience really guides personal discovery, in a step-by-step experiential way…over 7 weeks. When you do the program, as a hospital, you’re giving your staff the opportunity I wish I had when I was a nurse. I always wished I had a system to explore my personal and professional objectives and develop actionable strategies to accomplish my deepest desires. All too often, the workplace thrives on helping their teams be better health practitioners, but leaves out the human aspect of personal growth. I believe The ProMind Experience is what will take hospital retention programs to the next-level making hospitals the best they can be. When you have healthy and happy employees, in their own personal lives, they will naturally give to their workplace.

From Visionary To Humble Human

While I recognize there are many variables to building a thriving health care system. I hold the vision close that all workplaces will prioritize their health workforce in more personal ways. The case for The ProMind Experience goes beyond business; it is a social and moral imperative. The well-being of our health practitioners is not just a professional concern—it is a societal one. When we fail to support those who care for us, we undermine the very foundation of our healthcare system. Satori’s mission is to create better human outcomes for health practitioners across North Amercia and beyond, ensuring they receive the support they need to continue their vital work.

My humble human self tries to remain grounded in the present reality, acknowledging the practical limitations involved in achieving those visions. We have encountered resistance from HR, Organizational Development (OD), and Occupational Health (Occ Health) departments when attempting to implement The ProMind Experience within Canadian Healthcare Organizations. This resistance isn’t just due to COVID-19, but continued to remain prevalent in 2024. We understand it’s common when introducing new approaches that are challenging the status quo. However, The ProMind Experience is committed to overcoming these challenges and demonstrating the value of The ProMind Experience.

As the ProMind Experience prepares to scale, our dedicated team is on a journey that’s true and authentic to creating a more supportive and sustainable environment for health practitioners. Each of us holds a personal stake in The ProMind Experience’s Mission; to get off the stressed-out treadmill in 7 weeks or less. Inside of this experiential program, your workplace learns the tools and strategies to build a life of peace, joy and happiness.

I want to help you reach your organizational goals and grow. There’s always a gap between where you are and where you want to be. If you’re interested in building better habits, and shifting your mindset, connect with me @ info@thepromindexperience.com
