This is the same style of meditation that star celebrities rave about, such as Cameron Diaz, Jerry Seinfeld, and Oprah Winfrey. It’s also the same style of meditation that creates what some are calling a Super-Mind because it boosts your mental and physical performance so that you can live a richer and more fulfilling life.
Meditation is a state where you are contemplating or reflecting, but yet with a clear mind. A ‘zoning-out’ the interfering thoughts, stressors, and other interrupters. And this ‘zoning-out’ happens while you reach a state of much deeper and higher concentration.
I know a lot of people associate meditation with this zen-like state, but it’s also the most evidence-based style of meditation to bring-on peak states of cognition and creativity. Besides the fact that it quiets the mind, and brings a greater sense of peace throughout the body, there are many myths surrounding meditation that I address here.
Meditation’s origins date back 5000 years ago when Indians used the word ‘tantra’ which was done by gazing into flames.
Why bother meditating?
Well…the question should be Why NOT bother? If you’re driven to distraction, and constantly managing multiple things at once, you’ve likely discovered that your focus is limited after a very short period of time. Meditation can shift all that.
Mantra-style meditation is unlike all other forms of meditation because it’s effortless. You don’t have to concentrate on a flame or a point between your eyebrows. You simply allow your thoughts to pass through, and return to the mantra.
What’s The Science Behind Meditation?
After as little of your first session, people have noticed a boost in creativity, and memory function had improved.
After 6 months, those who practiced this style of meditation significantly outperformed a no-treatment control group on several standardized psychological tests related to constructive thinking, information processing, “practical intelligence”, academic achievement, as well as anxiety and depression.
Where Can I Learn To Meditate?
If you’re interested in any of our classes, we run a variety of different sessions. Check out our meditation page here, to find out the upcoming schedule. As well, we have Digital Program that allows a self-paced schedule to help you learn the technique without the group interaction.
Time is often an issue for most busy folks like you, so if you would prefer to create your own learning schedule, the Digital Learn To Meditate course is ideal for you. Check out this option on our page here.

Transcendence is the state in meditation that takes you beyond the waking state. Dr Rosenthal (2016) refers to the waking state as being ‘like the surface of the ocean’ (p.30). Of course, the surface can be pretty, joyful, and lively, but it can also be powerful and dangerous with our hopes and fears, moods and modes of being. And then there’s the place in our minds where our mantra takes us…deeper and deeper into our mind, and our ‘self’, and the body and mind are at rest in a very unique way. This state is not a sleeping state, nor a dreaming state, it’s the transcendental state.
Let’s take a journey into your mind, my beautiful friend! and sign up for one of our Virtual Meditation Groups. They run each month, beginning the first Saturday.
